Mounjaro and Wegovy
-
Wegovy contains semaglutide, a type of medicine called a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It helps reduce appetite and improve blood sugar control.
Mounjaro contains tirzepatide, which works on two hormones:
GLP-1, like Wegovy
GIP, which may further support weight loss and blood sugar control
Both are injectable medications given once a week.
-
Wegovy and Mounjaro help with weight loss by copying natural hormones in your body that control hunger and blood sugar.
They act like a hormone called GLP-1, which:
Makes you feel full after eating
Reduces appetite
Helps control blood sugar
Mounjaro also copies another hormone called GIP, which may:
Boost the effects of GLP-1
Help with weight loss and insulin release
⚠️ These medicines are prescription-only and require a full consultation. They work best with lifestyle changes like diet and exercise.
-
Both Wegovy and Mounjaro are injected once a week using a pre-filled pen.
